Epiphanies I had this Year

This blogpost is for me and me only. If you find this useful, AMAZING! I’ve always tried to make life easier for my future self, and this is one such initiative. When I ride through the high’s I prepare for the lows. And most of the preparation is just reminding myself of how to think of circumstances. And this very blog is a reminder for such.

I don’t even know I’m trying to help my future helpless self ok?

The Pygmalion Effect

If you believe in someone and push them, they will get better, thereby reinforcing your belief in them. And likewise if you don’t believe in someone. So what if the person you believe in, is you?

The Cliched I’ll be better next time

Every time I screw up I tell myself, I’ll do better next time. Every time I’m scared of doing something and get flustered I tell myself, I just have to do better than last time. This helps ground me.

Conscious Empathy

Be able to empathize with people even when they are wrong. There is an amount of peace you get from being able to say — I know where you’re coming from, but you’re wrong. It helps you forgive, and make the right decision.

Afterall, punishing someone never stops them from wanting to do crime, but trying to help them out of a vicious life could.

Being Truthful to Self

What I tell myself: No, I am working out more than once a week. Yes I’m eating chocolates because I’m stressed.

The truth: I’ve been missing badminton sessions and I haven’t visited gym outside the class hours, often missing that as well. I’m eating chocolates because I’m getting addicted to it.

Only if I tell myself the truth will I do something to change it. If I lie (knowing the truth isn;t enough, you have to admit to the truth), I will never take steps to be better.

Care for Things

Its easy to live a life without caring for anything. Because that will protect you from failure and heartbreak. But no one became great without caring for a cause. Be it your company, making money or your ethics, caring for something will teach more than you can imagine.

Be Genuinely Interested in Conversations

Ask questions, be present while communicating. You don’t know how much you can learn from others. This brings me to…

There’s something to learn from everyone

Be on a watch out to learn something from whomever you meet. Everyone has something useful to give you.

Non Technical Bullshit, brought to you by Devika Krishnadas.

Not really sure if this will be useful to you, but this is for me. For the day I get overwhelmed and forget the things that help me be sane.
